Steelers-Browns fight results in more than $732K in fines

The NFL has disciplined 33 players from the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Browns — with fines totaling $732,422 — as penalty for the brawl that broke out in the closing seconds of their game on Nov. 14.

The league on Saturday fined 29 players — including Pittsburgh’s Minkah Fitzpatrick and Cleveland’s Jarvis Landry — $3,507 apiece for “entering the fight area.”

Browns defensive end Myles Garrett was suspended indefinitely and fined $45,623 for ripping off and swinging Mason Rudolph’s helmet, hitting the Steelers quarterback in the head with it during Cleveland’s 21-7 win on “Thursday Night Football.”

Garrett lost his appeal this week and stands to lose about $1.2 million in salary for missing the six remaining games.

Rudolph, who was not suspended, was slapped with the biggest fine of $50,000. Pittsburgh center Maurkice Pouncey, who won an appeal reducing his suspension from three to two games, was fined $35,096 for fighting.

Browns defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi was suspended for one game, but his $10,527 fine was rescinded upon appeal.

In addition, both the Browns and Steelers franchises were fined $250,000 each.

Fines collected go to programs for NFL former players.

Three Cleveland players were also fined for plays that happened before the melee.

Safety Damarious Randall was fined $28,075 for unnecessary roughness and was ejected for a hit to the head of Steelers receiver Diontae Johnson, which knocked him out of the game with a concussion.

Defensive end Chad Thomas was fined $21,056 for a hit on Rudolph. From the same play, cornerback Greedy Williams was fined $28,075 for unnecessary roughness on a hit that left Steelers receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster with a concussion, as well.

The Browns travel to Pittsburgh for the rematch Dec. 1.
