Talent search show ‘East Africa’s Got Talent’ launched in Kenya – Nairobi News

East Africans will for the first time have a taste of the global talent search show Got Talent after it was launched in Kenya on Tuesday.

The inaugural season of East Africa’s Got Talent, a TV show is set to be shot in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda as the participating countries.

The show, which is part of Got Talent franchise started in 2006 by Simon Cowell and will see acts ranging from the moving to the ridiculous battle it out for a chance to be crowned the most talented East African.

Auditions for the show will kick off in Kenya in May, then move on to Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda.

GRAND WINNER

The show, which is set to start airing in August this year, will have 10 episodes, with the semifinals and grand finale to be shot live on location in Kenya.

The show will run for 10 weeks with the contestants going through three phases before getting to the finals and will be hosted by Ugandan comedian Ann Kansiime.

Auditions are expected to commence on May 11 and May 12, 2019, at the Kenya International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi.

The winner will walk away with Sh5 million, as voted for by the audience.

The show will be sponsored by Safaricom, Clouds Media Group, KFCB among other partners.

TALENTED PERFORMERS

East Africa’s Got Talent will unearth talented yet undiscovered performers of all ages, from singers, dancers, magicians, comedians and musicians.

The contestants will appear before celebrity judges who decide which contestants move on in the competition each week.

With the guidance of the show’s host, the audience will learn the backstories of these amazing people as they strive to make it to the finale, in which one talented performer will walk home with the ultimate prize.

Got Talent is the world’s most successful reality TV format ever and has since spawned spin offs in more than 60 countries.

The Got Talent format has had more than 900 million global viewers since it began airing in 2006 and has aired in 194 markets worldwide.
