Two charged in court with obtaining 800 Bibles under false pretense – Nairobi News

Two suspects were on Monday arraigned at the Milimani Law Courts in Nairobi and charged with obtaining 800 Bibles under false pretense.

The two, Reuben Rogoi Maina and John Mapesa Andulu, who appeared before Nairobi Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi, were accused of presenting a fake cheque of Sh920,000 to a Nairobi-based Bible translating organization as payment for the 800 copies of the Bible.

The Bibles included 300 copies of the New King James Version, 300 copies of the New International Version Bible and 200 copies of the Good News Bibles.

Both denied the charges and were each released on a Sh200,000 cash bail.

Nearly a year ago, three men were arraigned in court for breaking into a church and stealing Bibles.

David Mwangi Wanjira, Peter Maina Kiburi and James Kamau Njeri were accused of breaking into Wings of Life Worship Centre and committing a felony in Muthaiga.

It is alleged that the accused stole 13 Bibles valued at Sh9,100 and two sufurias among other items totaling to Sh16,100 in value.
