A wanted gangster, who was last year convicted in absentia to 20 years after failing to attend court, was on Wednesday arrested in Kawangware.
Kelson Lienga alias Kevin Lienga is accused of being involved in a series of robberies and serious assault, including one in Sabatia, Vihiga county, where he chopped off the leg of one of his victims.
“He was arrested, taken to court, tried and convicted (in absentia) to 20 years after failing to attend court on judgement day,” said DCI through Twitter.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the suspect is connected to a series of crimes in western Kenya including robbery with violence and defilement.
The DCI stated that in February and April this year, the suspect was connected to a series of violent robberies and organized crimes including one in which a 14-year-old girl was defiled.
The suspect is directly linked to all the crimes and has been at large ever since he failed to attend court.
