WWE superstar Becky Lynch announces she is pregnant

“The Man” is having a baby.

Becky Lynch, one of WWE’s biggest stars, announced Monday on the promotion’s “Raw” television show that she is pregnant and stepping away from the ring for “a while.” Lynch, whose nickname “The Man” stems from her being the promotion’s marquee attraction, is engaged to fellow WWE headliner Seth Rollins.

“I’m torn between joy and sadness because I’m at a place in my life where things are about to change, and I needed to do something about it,” Lynch said through tears.

Lynch told People magazine that she and Rollins found out that she is pregnant in April, and their baby is due in December. She said she has not yet decided on her in-ring future.

“I don’t know what the next chapter is because I only know what it’s like to think for myself when I’m by myself,” Lynch told People. “So I don’t know what it’ll look like and how my priorities shift and what I’m going to want in the future. So everything’s open.”

With the announcement, Lynch relinquished the “Raw” women’s title. She was the longest reigning “Raw” women’s champion, holding the belt for 398 days after she pinned Ronda Rousey in the WrestleMania 35 main event in April 2019. The triple-threat match, which also featured Charlotte Flair, was the first women’s main event in WrestleMania history.

In Monday’s “Raw” opening segment, Lynch came out with the promise of a big announcement. Before she could say it, Asuka, who won the women’s Money in the Bank match on Sunday, came to the ring.

Lynch, 33, told Asuka that normally the Money in the Bank match earns the winner a title shot. But in Asuka’s case, this one earned her the title. Lynch then broke the news.

“I can’t fight anymore, but you can,” Lynch said. “You are the champion. … You go be a warrior because I’m gonna go be a mother.”

Lynch, a native of Ireland, has been with WWE since 2013. Lynch, whose real name is Rebecca Quin, is a trained actor and is actively pursuing a second career in film and television. Last week, she had a guest spot on the season premiere of the Showtime series “Billions.”
