20 die, 460 test positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours

Some 460 people in Kenya have tested positive for Covid-19 from a sample size of 2,753 tested in the last 24 hours. The positivity rate is now 16.7 per cent.

446 of the positive cases are Kenyans while 14 are foreigners, with 250 males and 210 females.

The youngest positive case is a seven-month-old infant while the oldest, an 89-year-old.

The total confirmed cases in the country now stand at 139,448 after 1,520,390 cumulative tests conducted.

Nairobi County still leads in positive cases (295), followed by Kitui (62), Machakos (29), Kiambu (28), Nyeri (12) and Nakuru (12).

178 patients have recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours, pushing the cumulative recoveries to 94,361. 99 patients have recovered from various health facilities while 79 from Home Based and Isolation Care.

20 people have succumbed to the virus, one in the last 24 hours, 10 in the last month, with nine being late death reports. This pushes the total fatalities to 2,244.

1,590 patients are currently admitted to several health facilities while 5,998 patients are on Home Based and Isolation care.

200 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 40 on ventilator support while 130 on supplemental oxygen.

240 more patients are separately on supplementary oxygen, with 223 of them in general wards and 17 in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).
