Egerton University students have been forced to vacate the institution premises after the management directed them to leave following the suspension of physical learning by the government as a measure to curb the spread of Covid-19.
The institution on March 27, 2021, had issued a notice of suspension of physical learning. However, in an updated notice, the closure of the university was communicated.
Medical students are not affected by the closure.
“After further consultations on the 15th Presidential directive on coronavirus, we have been instructed that the University be closed until further notice except for medical students,” read a notice on the closure of the university signed by Ag. Registrar Academic Affairs Mwanarusi Saidi and dated today.
All students as per the notice were directed to vacate the university premises immediately.
The students were advised to keep checking the university website regularly for updates and observe precautionary measures as per the Ministry of Health regulations during this period.
To facilitate traveling, students are required to carry along their national ID, university ID or admission letter.
