Tusker FC striker Henry Meja has joined Sweden topflight side AIK on a five-year deal.
Meja, 19, was one of the stand-out performers for the brewers as they bagged their 12th league title this season.
He will link up with another Kenyan international Erick ‘Marcelo’ Ouma at AIK.
Both Meja and Ouma are part of the 23-man Harambee Stars squad that was held to a 0-0 draw by Uganda and will take on Rwanda on Sunday in their second Fifa 2022 World Cup qualifier.
Meja, has emerged as one of the players to watch out for, having been instrumental in the brewer’s impressive run thus far.
Meja is third on the league’s top scorer’s chart with five goals, seven behind Eric Kapaito of Kariobangi Sharks.
Four of those goals came in January, during which he also provided one assist to be crowned Tusker’s best player of the month. As a result of that outstanding performance, the towering attacker also received his maiden call up to join Harambee Stars for the Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifiers against Togo and Egypt next month.
Being named Tusker’s January best player, which is accompanied with a Sh10,000 (US$91) shopping voucher, is the first award Meja has received at the Ruaraka based club for his exploits, since he joined in January 2020 from Green Commandos of Kakamega High School.
