Mudavadi turns down invitation for Raila’s big day

Kalonzo is also in Soth Sudan for talks with President Salva Kirr on the peace process.

Amani National Congress party leader Musalia Mudavadi has said that he will not be part of the One Kenya Alliance principals attending the Azimio la Umoja Convention at Kasarani Stadium on Friday.

Mudavadi, through a post on his Twitter account, said that he has been officially invited in a personal capacity to attend the much-awaited event.

However, the ANC leader who has declared his bid for the presidential seat said that ODM leader Raila Odinga is among the competitors whom they will be squaring out for the top seat and that attending his party function will not augur well with him.

“Raila Odinga is a worthy competitor, I wish him well because tomorrow will clearly be his day in the sun,” Mudavadi said.

He had earlier questioned the invitation of Raila to OKA functions, the recent being Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, who invited Raila for his party’s big day at Kasarani gymnasium.

Kalonzo is also a doubt for the function as he continues with his peace talks in South Sudan.

Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetangula has also stated that he will not attend the event due to prior engagements.

During the function, Raila is expected to officially declare his candidature for the presidency in 2022.

Raila on Thursday inspected the ongoing works at the Kasarani Stadium ahead of the Azimio la Umoja convention.

Raila was accompanied by media mogul S.K. Macharia among other leaders during the inspection.

Speaking during the inspection, National Assembly Minority Whip, Junet Mohamed said Kasarani Stadium is ready to host Friday’s event, calling on Kenyans to turn out in large numbers.

The Suna East MP added that they expect everyone they invited, including dignitaries to attend.
