TikTok has revolutionized my life in more ways than I can count. The running joke is that this new age app has taught us more practical knowledge than schooling ever has. Honestly, I can somewhat attest to this. There are so many life hacks and informational videos that continually enlighten me with new knowledge. Same goes for fashion! The app is a great place to gauge what styles are trending the most. I have been keeping close tabs on what trends I have been loving from the popular social media community and how these looks can be translated into my own sense of style. I thought I’d share the top TikTok fashion trends to arise from 2021 so far.
Slim Maxi Dresses
Everyone is utterly obsessed with slim maxi dresses thanks mostly to the consistently sold out Skims dress. You can see why this particular look is trending though! It is incredibly flattering as it totally contours to all your curves. This slim maxi dress trend is actually a great basic to add to your wardrobe. Obviously, you can wear it by itself when it is still warm out. When fall comes, you can just as easily style your favorite outerwear pieces right over top as it acts as the perfect, minimal base.
This particular trend comes as no surprise as the look is practically everywhere and is not going away anytime soon. The loose, relaxed denim fit will continue to reign supreme over skinny leg styles – something I am not mad about at all! I have always had a love for jeans. However, I find myself appreciating them even more since the fit is so much more oversized and comfortable. This is a TikTok fashion trend that will only continue to grow as we make our way into fall and winter.
Matching Short Sets
I am always on board for a good matching set as it truly makes looking stylish on lazy days a breeze. I think most others will agree as coordinating pieces have only grown in popularity and it has become its own category in which you can shop on many retailer sites. This summer, TikTok fashionistas were seen wearing matching sets galore. Particularly, fun, printed styles with more of a relaxed fit that you can throw on as a bathing suit cover-up or wear alone as an everyday outfit. Do not be afraid to mix-and-match your matching sets either!
For the longest time, bucket hats were the headwear of choice on famous TikTokers. All of a sudden I started noticing more baseball caps being flaunted on the app. Where specifically, trucker hats have made a huge comeback on the app the past few months. In a way, it is another nod to the resurfacing of Y2K fashion trends. I do really like this trend though, as a printed baseball cap is a fun accessory to add character and style to your daily outfits.
This final major TikTok fashion trend is similar to the off-the-shoulder look but with an updated twist. The detached sleeve top was a pretty redundant style in recent runways. Now it has made its way into the lap of the millennial TikToker. This movement is very sophisticated as it is more of a subtle cut out variation. I think this particular TikTok fashion trend will continue to gain momentum as we get into fall so be on the lookout for detached sleeves featured on tops and dresses!
